For Guy Schell, surviving an explosion from an improvised explosive device while on patrol in Afghanistan in 2009 left him with a broken back.
But Schell, a 27-year-old Army sergeant and a Purple Heart recipient from Sharon, Pa., did not expect his injuries would earn him a new house in suburban West Palm Beach.
