West Palm Beach — The Housing Leadership Council is honored to have their Executive Chair, Patti Fitzgerald, named to the Florida Real Estate Commission, which administers and enforces real estate license law. Fitzgerald is a real estate broker and associate manager for Illustrated Properties in Jupiter.

Governor Rick Scott announced Fitzgerald’s appointment on Feb. 5, 2016. Fitzgerald will succeed Roger Enzor and is appointed for a three-year term ending October 31, 2019. The Florida Real Estate Commission consists of seven members and meets monthly. The Florida Senate must confirm the appointment.

“It’s very exciting and rewarding to be fulfilling this position at this time in my career,” Fitzgerald said. “I’ve spent almost 40 years in the real estate business, and serving on the Florida Real Estate Commission is the pinnacle of importance to me.”

Fitzgerald has been a member of the Housing Leadership Council Board of Directors since 2011 and was elected Chairwoman in June of 2015. She serves on both the Executive Committee and is an active member of the Public Policy Committee. She has been a driving force in the effort to ensure that there is adequate workforce housing in our community to meet the needs of the rapidly expanding businesses relocating to the area. Fitzgerald has also been a tireless advocate for full funding of the SHIP (State Housing Initiatives Partnership) program which brings millions of dollars to the community for housing.

Fitzgerald is also the Florida Realtors’ 2013 Realtor of the Year and a longtime member of the Jupiter-Tequesta-Hobe Sound Council (JTHS) of the MIAMI Association of REALTORS® and has served on many real estate committees and projects. Fitzgerald currently chairs the JTHS Public Policy Committee, which keeps tabs on Palm Beach and Martin counties government affairs for the 1,500-plus members in JTHS. Among her many accomplishments, Fitzgerald is the founder and past president of the Jupiter chapter of the Women’s Council of REALTORS®. She started Renewal Coalition, a program that brings wounded military and their families to Jupiter for a vacation.

On the state level, Fitzgerald has served Florida Realtors as District 3 vice president, secretary, president-elect, and in 2011, as Florida Realtors president. She has also chaired numerous committees. She chaired the Realtor Image Task Force that produced the Florida Realtors Scholarship Essay Contest.

Nationally, Fitzgerald spent seven years on the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) Communications Committee. She was key in developing NAR’s advertising campaign.

Fitzgerald is also a fixture in the community, volunteering for causes such as Wounded Warriors, Paws for Patriots, Habitat for Humanity and the North County Entertainment Council. She also raised money for R.O.C.K. Camp, a local camp for children with cancer. Fitzgerald helped Parade of Neighborhoods, an affordable home project that makes the American Dream of homeownership a reality for the underprivileged. Her efforts helped JTHS earn the NAR’s Ambassadors for Cities award in 2009.
