Sergio Mariaca graduated with honors from the University of North Carolina, (Asheville), earning a double degree in Economics and Financial Management. With a strong commitment to financial education, Sergio worked as an Adjunct Professor at Palm Beach State University where he taught “Retirement Planning Today” for over five years. Sergio believes in giving back to the community and is a strong advocate for children, education, and for persons with special needs. Sergio enjoys biking, boating, hiking, exercising, gardening, reading, and spending time with family and friends. He is married to Andrea and they have four children: Dean, Mia, Joaquin and Sofia.
Sergio is committed to giving back to his community and serves/served on several non-profit boards: Economic Council of Palm Beach County (2018-), Dwyer Awards Committee (2018-); Nonprofits First (2019-); Leadership Palm Beach County (Class of 2019); Autism Society of America: (2010-2016; Vice Chair/Treasurer); United Way of Palm Beach County (2001-2015; Board Chair/Campaign Chair); SunFest (2007-2013); Area Agency on Aging of the Palm Beaches & Treasure Coast (2003-2012; Board Chair/1st VP); School District of Palm Beach County Leadership Advisory Council (2009-2010; Advisory Boundary Committee (2001-2003); Education Foundation of Palm Beach County (2002-2008; Board Chair); Girl Scouts of America (South Florida Executive Realignment Co-Chair (2007 – 2008); University of North Carolina at Asheville Board of Trustees (1996-1997).
