
Kate P. Cotner is the Director of Community Engagement for Florida Power & Light Company, a Fortune 200 company which is the largest electric utility in the State of Florida, and one of the largest electric utility providers of clean energy in the country. As part of her role, she develops giving and engagement strategies for FPL. Her role also includes oversight of the FPL’s Manatee Lagoon in Palm Beach County.
In her prior role, she was an External Affairs Manager for South Palm Beach County and a Senior External Affairs Advisor for the Treasure Coast. She also served in FPL’s General Counsel’s Office as a Principal Attorney. She is a licensed attorney and has practiced both in the public and private sectors. She credits her legal background as the key to making her an effective community partner and problem solver.
Kate believes in the importance of being active and engaged in her community. She serves on the Board of Directors for Leadership Florida, the Friends of Manatee Lagoon, the Palm Beach YMCA, and the Housing Leadership Council of Palm Beach County. In addition to being passionate about her work, she also enjoys cooking and adventuring with her husband, Ian, and son, Liam.
