Whitney Cunningham oversees Florida Power & Light Company’s community outreach, including managing FPL’s major event sponsorships and community events. Additionally, she is also responsible for special projects including evaluating FPL’s potential role as an advocate for the economic sustainability of Florida’s workforce.

Prior to this new role, Whitney managed venue operations for Manatee Lagoon – An FPL Eco-Discovery Center®. Responsible for driving revenue for the new business segment, Whitney propelled new and existing client relationships, brand positioning, and e-commerce platforms at the unique, waterfront destination. In this position, Whitney was also responsible for maximizing positive visibility and impact for the center and Florida Power & Light. Her activation of the community partnership with Rybovich Superyacht Marina’s non-profit, RISE, created a community relations platform that reached over 1,110 diverse families in Manatee Lagoon’s surrounding area, and was recognized by the Florida Chamber of Commerce as an example of how businesses should work to support and engage local residential communities.

Whitney is a graduate of Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH and has 13 years of experience in marketing, branding, and public relations. Whitney’s career shaping and cultivating brands in the entertainment, lifestyle, and corporate arenas began when she starred on Tyra Banks’ television series, “America’s Next Top Model” in Los Angeles in 2007. Segueing her entertainment experience, Whitney’s career flourished at Sean “Diddy” Combs’ The Blue Flame Agency / Combs Enterprises in New York City where she rose from a marketing assistant to an Associate Director of Marketing spearheading campaigns for Cîroc Ultra-Premium Vodka that evolved Cîroc’s position to one of Diageo’s leading spirits and one of America’s Hottest Brands (Advertising Age).

Funneling her experiences into entrepreneurship, Whitney established New York City business development firm, Brandchild, where she created “mission led marketing solutions for brands.” At Brandchild, Whitney worked with Penguin Random House, Sean “Diddy” Combs, and New York Times bestselling author, Wes Moore, whose novel “The Work,” under Whitney’s tutelage, catapulted to the top of the New York Times bestseller list.

A West Palm Beach, FL native, executive board member of the West Palm Beach chapter of The Links, Incorporated, and member of the Junior League of the Palm Beaches’ Community Advisory Council, Whitney is passionately dedicated to giving back by giving a voice to underserved residents in the community where she resides.
